Gate City II: Religion and Culture V: The Catholic Church and Freemasonry: On May 26, 2009, our Religion and Culture series will have as our guest Catholic Deacon John J. McManus. In a presentation approved by the Archbishop of Atlanta, Most Rev. Wilton D. Gregory, John will speak on the historical relationship between the Catholic Church and Freemasonry. Among the topics covered in the presentation will be age old rifts, Papal Bulls and the Catholic Church's current stance on Freemasonry. Dinner 6:30PM. Presentation 7:30PM. Friends, family and the public are welcome to attend.

Gate City II is an Atlanta Masonic Lodge. We are Free and Accepted Masons working under the jurisdiction of The Grand Lodge of Georgia. Atlanta Masonic Center (formerly The Atlanta Masonic Temple) 1690 Peachtree Street, Atlanta, GA 30309.

I hope that some text of the address or some cogent comments on your blog are forthcoming. An interesting subject to a Catholic Mason such as I am. A tip of the hat to you for not being scared off by tough subjects!

All history, bulls, opinions, findings and stances which we receive from the Catholic Church will be reported. I suppose it goes without saying that it will be done in a respectful, learned and objective fashion. We don't wish to change anyone's mind. We just want to learn.
